Mr. Daniel L. Greene, Sr., 57 of 242 West Second Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 10:42 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012 in Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past several weeks.
Born August 27, 1955 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Luther M. and Betty Jane (Rowland) Greene.
Mr. Greene served honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
He and his wife of over 33 years, Mrs. Marcia (Naugle) Greene, were married February 16, 1979 in Hagerstown, MD. They had lived at their present residence for the past 10 years.
Mr. Greene was employed in concrete and construction, most recently being employed for D& A Concrete and Construction in Maryland.
He enjoyed watching football and woodworking. He also was an avid collector of baseball cards, knives, and Marine Corp memorabilia.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Greene is survived by one son, Daniel L. Greene, Jr. of Waynesboro; one daughter, Holly Butler and her husband, Carl of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Tessa Woodring, Colton Butler, and Emily Butler; two sisters, Debora Spessard of Hagerstown and Sandra Shirley of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Luther M. Green, Jr., Ronald E. Greene and Terry M. Greene.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, South Central PA Chapter, 3001 Old Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill PA 17011.
