Shelia Gertrude Miner, 79

Shelia Gertrude Shank Miner, 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday Jan. 3, 2013 at New Mexico University Hospital, Albuquerque NM, shortly after spending the holidays with her extended family in Prescott AZ. Gertie passed peacefully with her loving husband and daughter at her side.
Gertie was born March 15, 1933 in Waynesboro PA. Gertie was the daughter of Owen Henry Daniel Shank and Alice Mae Beard Shank.
She attended Jacobs Lutheran Church while growing up. She graduated Washington township high school in 1951, and then graduated Maryland Medical Records College in 1953.
She married her high school sweetheart Donald Franklin Miner on Sept 12, 1954. Gertie and Don lived on Wayne Road since 1959.
She has two children, Lorie Kennell and Dan Miner.
She was retired from Chambersburg OBGYN where she worked as the office manager.
She was very active and a deacon of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. Gertie was always active as cook and devoted mother, with interests in needlework, sewing, and quilt making. Gertie and Don were members of Whirly Birds Square Dance club, and Penn Dixies RV Square Dance club.
She was preceded in death by her parents Owen and Mae Shank, Sister Vivian "Sissy" Shank Ulrich, brothers Wayne Shank, Eugene "Nook" Shank, Phillip Shank, and Rupert Shank.
She is survived by her sister Alma Oberholzer, husband Donald Miner, children Lorie Miner Kennell and Dan Miner, and grandchildren Andrew Miner, Alex Miner, Rachel Kennell, and Ellya Kennell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 11, 2013 in Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 17 South Church St, Waynesboro with the Rev. Jesse Miles officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the church.
